A team game report: GF 1-8 Scotia

Friday October 24
Glens Falls 1-8 Scotia

The A team was defeated 8-1 in their final game, for their only home loss of the season. Although the score was lopsided, the Indians played reasonably well for most the game and were especially strong to begin the second half. But they had the misfortune of running into an excellent Scotia team at the top of their game. Sean Hooker scored for the GF on a breakaway off a through ball from John Benjamin. Nate Didio had his best game of the season at forward.

SCORING
56'-Sean Hooker (John Benjamin)

SHOTS ON GOAL: GF 7, Scotia 12

A team game report: GF 4-0 HF

Saturday October 18
Glens Falls 4-0 Hudson Falls

The A team offered a spirited, 60-minute performance in dominating Hudson Falls 4-0. The scoring opened a few minutes into the game when a cross was deflected by a defender to Heath Armstrong who put it past the keeper. The lead was double several minutes later when Sam Butz tapped an indirect free kick to Kyle McMurtry who blasted past the keeper. McMurtry scored in the second quarter and he smashed home a cross from Sean Hooker. McMurtry played a cross to Evan McLaughlin who made an excellent turn and finish for the only goal of the second half. Fran Daugherty created all kinds of problems for HF's defense in his first start at forward. The Indians' team defense was so solid that it held the Tigers without a shot on goal the entire game for the squad's third shutout of the season.

A team game report: SGF 4-1 GF

Thursday October 16
South High 4-1 Glens Falls

The A team mostly slept through a 4-1 loss to South High. The Bulldogs were up 3-0 after a first half where the Indians were lacking in team shape and especially energy. The A team woke up in the fourth quarter and played fairly well. Mike Kenny got the Indians' only goal of the game late in the game off a pass from Sam Butz. Kenny's goal was GF's only shot on goal of the game.

SCORING
54'-Mike Kenny (Sam Butz)

SHOTS ON GOAL: SGF 15, GF 1

A team game report: GF 1-1 Qby

Tuesday October 14
Glens Falls 1-1 Queensbury

The A team tied Queensbury after overtime in an affair that was wide open despite the 1-1 scoreline. The Indians played poorly in the first quarter in yet another slow start. But they controlled most of the rest of the game. The Spartans scored in the first quarter on a fluke goal, but keeper Spencer Bray made up for it with three fantastic saves later in the game and a season high 11 stops throughout the match. Kyle McMurtry evened it up in the third quarter when he got ahold of a bouncing ball and lashed into the net. GF had several good chances following that but could not put the ball in the net.

SHOTS ON GOAL: Glens Falls 11, Queensbury 12

A team game report: GF 7-0 Johnstown

Thursday October 2
Glens Falls 7-0 Johnstown

The A team became the first A team ever to win their first four games of the season when they beat Johnstown 7-0. The Indians dominated the first half, outshooting the Sir Bills 10-1, but couldn't put the ball in the net due to suspect finishing and good goalkeeping. But in the opening minute of the second half, the Johnstown keeper fumbled a shot and Sean Hooker was there to poke home the rebound. Hooker ended with two goals and an assist on the evening to continue his scoring rampage: he has at least two points in every game this season. Seven minutes later, Hooker took a cross from Tyler Mello and one-touch flicked it to Kyle McMurtry who finished the counterattack with a nice goal. The Indians overwhelmed Johnstown in the fourth quarter with five goals, including another goal scored directly off a free kick by McMurtry. In the quarter. John Benjamin and Fran Daughterty scored their first ever modified goals, while Evan McLaughlin scored his first of the season. Spencer Bray recorded his second consecutive shutout. It was a great second half by the Indians who will need a similar performance next Tuesday against a top-class Scotia team.
