What to drink and the importance of sleep

Soccer America's youth soccer blog has two excellent articles.

The first is on the importance of sleep for all teenagers, especially athletes. (Click here for the article)

The other is on the importance of drinking fluids not only during, but before and after sporting events. It points out that athletes should NOT be drinking soda or energy drinks around sporting events. It adds that sports drinks like Gatorade are okay during sporting events but athletes should not be drinking them constantly throughout the day because of the calories they contain; water should be drunk during the day.
